Established in 2024, Shogun Dojo Is continuing in the foot steps of it's legacy school founded in 1997 in Smithers, BC, by the esteemed martial arts master Hanshi Marwan Abu Khadra, Shogun Dojo has been a beacon of excellence in the world of martial arts. As the torchbearer of this esteemed legacy, Tareq Abu Khadra, is proud to continue his father's vision and commitment to martial arts excellence.
Growing up surrounded by the ethos of martial arts, Tareq has witnessed firsthand the transformative power it holds. With a deep-rooted passion for the martial arts and a profound respect for the teachings passed down through generations, he is honored to carry forward the traditions of Shogun Dojo into the future.

With a curriculum grounded in the principles of discipline, respect, and perseverance, we strive to empower individuals of all ages and backgrounds to unlock their full potential.

In 1997, Hanshi Marwan embarked on a transformative journey from Hamburg, Germany, where he was privileged to train under the tutelage of Shihan Lemmens, a revered martial arts pioneer and the visionary behind Light Contact Kickboxing, also known as continuous fighting. Shihan Lemmens' innovative approach to Karate, exemplified in Kadgamala Karate, fused tradition with practicality, setting new standards in the martial arts world.
Under Shihan Lemmens' guidance, Hanshi Marwan thrived, laying the foundation for a generational family legacy. His dedication and talent culminated in him becoming the inaugural Abu Khadra World Champion in both Light Contact and Full Contact fighting divisions, marking the beginning of a storied career.
Hanshi Marwan's expertise didn't stop at personal achievements. He assumed the mantle of national team coach for Germany across various prestigious organizations, including IAKSA, WKA and WKC, shaping the next generation of martial artists. Upon relocating to Canada, he continued to leave an indelible mark on the martial arts landscape, serving as the national coach for Team Canada in multiple organizations.
Throughout his journey, Hanshi Marwan crossed paths with countless individuals, earning widespread recognition and respect as an icon within the martial arts community. His commitment to excellence, coupled with his passion for passing on knowledge, has left an enduring legacy that continues to inspire and shape Shogun Dojo to this day.
Upon settling in the Smithers area in 1996, Hanshi Marwan wasted no time in realizing his vision. In 1997, he established his inaugural school in the gymnasium of a local elementary school, laying the cornerstone for what would become a martial arts legacy.
Expanding his reach, Hanshi Marwan soon launched two additional locations, extending the influence of his teachings to Terrace, BC, and Houston, BC. His commitment to mentorship bore fruit as he guided numerous individuals on their journey to achieving the coveted black belt.
Today, Hanshi Marwan oversees a thriving family-run Dojo in Smithers, where he, alongside his family, serves as the custodian of martial arts excellence. The legacy of his teachings also extends beyond Smithers, with Lee-Ann and Sheldon Lainchbury, master students of Hanshi Marwan, spearheading Shogun Martial Arts in Williams Lake, embodying the principles instilled by their revered mentor.
Through his unwavering dedication, Hanshi Marwan continues to nurture the martial arts community in British Columbia, leaving an indelible mark on the world stage year after year, ensuring that his teachings endure and inspire generations to come.
Born in 1997, Sensei Tareq Abu Khadra has steadfastly followed in the footsteps of his father, Hanshi Marwan. From a young age, Tareq demonstrated an unwavering dedication to martial arts, laying the groundwork for a remarkable journey of achievement.
Throughout his career, Sensei Tareq has amassed multiple world titles across esteemed organizations such as WKC, IMAC, and most recently, the WKU World Championships. His remarkable success on the international stage is complemented by his role as a coach for the WKU Canadian team and his current position as the official WKU Canada President.
Sensei Tareq's martial arts journey began at the tender age of 4, with his first tournament appearance at just 6 years old. Determined to excel, he devoted his life to the art, sacrificing social events and academic pursuits. His dedication bore fruit when he achieved his Shodan Junior Black Belt at the remarkable age of 11, a testament to his relentless pursuit of excellence. He now holds his Yondan (4th degree black belt) and his second degree is Kickboxing.
With over a decade of teaching experience under his belt, Sensei Tareq has honed his skills across a diverse range of classes, catering to students of all ages and disciplines. From guiding young Jedi kids aged 3-5 to mentoring adult practitioners in Karate, kickboxing, and self-defense, Sensei Tareq's passion for martial arts shines through in every class he leads.
Now, following in his father's footsteps, Tareq embarks on a new chapter in the Prince George area, fulfilling his dream of opening his own martial arts school. With boundless enthusiasm and a deep-seated love for the art, he looks forward to sharing his expertise and fostering a thriving martial arts community in the region.
