This section outlines the expectation placed on members both in and out of the dojo (Dojo Events such as tournaments and social settings surrounding the Dojo), as well as the rules in the Dojo that everyone is expected to follow.

Students and Parents found in breach of either our Member Expectations or our Dojo Rules, will either be asked to sit down or leave the Dojo where applicable. 

If continued breaches in our Code of Conduct are made students or Parents will no longer be welcomed at the Dojo.

Member Expectations


Student expectations outlines the Dojo expectation of students when affiliating or representing the Dojo including at the Dojo, at events, at home, and at school. 

Member Expectations:

  1.  Conduct themselves in a manner that prioritizes safety, avoiding reckless or dangerous behavior that could endanger others.
  2. Show courtesy to everyone, including other students, coaches, competitors, instructors, Shogun Dojo staff, volunteers, and spectators. Any form of fighting, except in tournament competition or self-defense, is strictly prohibited.
  3. Refrain from using derogatory language or engaging in threatening behavior, whether verbal or physical.
  4. Respect the facility(s) and refrain from actions that could cause damage or liability to the school owner or host.
  5. Attend the dojo and/or events in a sober and fit state, refraining from alcohol, drugs, or any substances that impair functioning.
  6. Avoid inappropriate use of Shogun Dojo intellectual property without prior written consent.
  7. Maintain respect for others and foster a respectful environment at all times.

 

Dojo Rules

Dojo rules apply specifically to individuals including students and parents entering the Dojo


Dojo Rules:

  1.  Everyone who enter the Dojo must take off outdoor shoes. Absolutely no outdoor shoes on mats. A mop and bucket will be provided to anyone who violates this rule.
  2.  Everyone who enter the Dojo will bow when entering and exiting.
  3.  Students will be on time to sessions
  4.  Students will maintain and uphold personal cleaning practices including body and oral hygiene. Finger and toe nails will be trimmed and clean. 
  5.  No running in Dojo without expressed permission.
  6.  Any injuries the student has must be communicated upfront at the start of class. If it is a private matter please let us know what you cannot do. If it is a student under the age of 18, the instructor will reach out to parents after the class for a follow up on any injuries that were communicated.
  7.  No swearing or derogatory language. 
  8.  Maintain respect for all your surroundings including, co-students, instructor and facility.
